world’s goods. Some Bible scholars have estimated Abraham’s wealth at one billion dollars. He had 300 servants and in Gen. 13:2 it says “ And Abraham was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.” The Jews have forged to the front in every nation where they are scattered. “ I Will Make Thy Name Great.” This has been literally fulfilled. Abraham’s name is said to be more widely known today than any other name. There are traditions about Abraham among nearly all nations. In Africa, tribes have a tra dition about Abraham who have never heard the name of Jesus Christ. Blessing Upon Those That Blessed Abraham. To prove how true this is one needs only to look at History. The Persians under Cyrus were blessed because of their generosity to the Jews in helping them back to their own land. Every nation that has helped the Jews has been spared while those who have persecuted the Jews have waned and finally been destroyed. Maybe this kind ness £>f Cyrus accounts for the existence of the Persians today. Cursing -on Those That Curse The Jews. This has literally been true in the past and is demonstrated today. Moab, Edom, Tyre, Syria, Assyria, Phonecia and other nations have ill treated the Jews and where are those nations now? The Turks and the Spanish in more modern times have persecuted the Jews and they have decreased in national power. Russia has also cursed the Jew and perhaps some of this present distress is the result. All To Be Blessed Through the Jew. The Saviour of the world, Jesús Christ, is a Jew, a descendant of Abraham. All the nations have been blessed through Him and in the future they are to receive abundant blessing during His glorious reign. And while this is spir itually true it is literally true also that we are blessed in other ways by the Jew.

Recently President Wilson appointed Henry Morgenthau, U. S. Ambassador to Turkey. At a banquet held in his honor Mr. Morgenthau said, “ I had decided not to accept this appointment, but when I read that Sir Rufus Isaacs, a Jew, had just been nominated for the greatest office in the English Govern ment, Lord Chief Justice, I was inspired to think of the millions of Jews who have been encouraged by this news. This reminds me that many more Jews will rejoice over the fact that an Amer ican Jew is the representative in the Turkish Government of the greatest Republic in the world, America.” ( Being A Blessing. An eminent divine was suffering under chronic disease, and consulted several, physicians. They all declared that his disease would i prove fatal in a shorter or longer time, according to the manner in which he lived. They all urged him to give up his ministry “ If” inquired the preacher, “ I give myself up to repose, how long, gentlemen, will you guarantee my life?” “ Probably six years,” answered the doctors. “ And if I continue in office?” “ Three years at the most.” “ Then,” said he, “ I prefer spending, two or three years in doing some good, to living six years in idleness.” v. 1. The Lord had said. The writ ten Word is the unfolding of Christ the living Word, and by that Word, heard as the voice of God, faith is begotten in the .soul. Rom. 10:17. COMMENT —Marsh. The believer, having died in Christ is done with the world; having risen with Christ, is connected with God in the power of a new life. Being thus inseparably linked with Christ, he of necessity participates in His accept ance with God and His rejection by the world. The former makes him a wor-
