THE K I NG ' S BUS I NESS people who prayed to them? No, they had no life and could not help any body. God told Abraham to leave his home and friends, and go to another land which He would show him. Abra ham did not know what land it was, yet he left his home and friends, just as God had told him to do. You know Abraham trusted God and knew He would take care of him apd bring him safely to this new and strange land. Of course Abraham took his wife, and his younger nephew, Lot. Abraham was Lot’s uncle. (As the next lesson brings in Lot, familiarize the children with him and his relationship to Abraham.) They also took their cattle and some servants to help them take care of things. There must have been some busy days getting everything «ready for this long journey, but finally the day came for them to start to this new land God had promised to show them. They had to travel a long way over the desert, which was very dry and sandy, and sometimes very hot. They would put up their tent every night on the sand under the stars, and before going to sleep they would kneel down on the sand and ask God to watch over them while they were asleep, and next morn ing they would get up and start out on the journey. Of course there were no trains or automobiles in those days, and I think they must have travelled on camels. (Show picture of camels carry ing people over desert.) After a great many days of travelling over the sandy desert, they came to some trees and grass, and streams of water. How happy they must have been when they were over the hot sands and had the trees to give them shade and the nice green grass for a carpet in their tent. (Put life and spirit into these beautiful stor ies and make them real to the children. Relate some of the experiences that would naturally occur along the way. Space forbids enlarging here.) It was a very long journey, and in some places it was very wild looking and lonely,

He was remembered by Abram in the building of an altar. 12:7-8. Abraham Obeying God. Gen. 12:1-9. Memory Verse.— “ All that the Lord hath said will we do, and be obedient.” Ex. 24:7. Approach.— How many of you boys and girls ever went somewhere with father or mother, or your teacher, and you had never been to the place before, and did not know BEGINNERS t h e way? Well, AND Mary were you not PRIMARY afraid to s t a r t somewhere and not know where you were going? Not when mother was with you. No, there was no reason for you to be afraid when you were going with mother for she knew the way, and she would not take you any place where there was danger or anything to harm you, and you were glad to go with mother because you loved her and could trust yourself in her care, and she would always help you over the bad places in the road, and you got along fine when you did as mother asked you to do. God asked this man in our lesson to go to a land where he had never been, and because he trusted God he went, and you boys and girls are showing every day how much you love Jesus. If you do what Jesus wants you to do, He knows you love Him a great deal, but if you do the wrong things then He knows you do not love Him. Let us say our mem ory verse. Lesson Story.— A long time ago there lived a man by the name of Abra ham who loved God. In the place where Abraham lived most of the people prayed to idols which were made of wood and stone. Do you think these wooden idols could hear or help the
