THE K I N G ’ S BUS I NESS and counterfeit surrender. Nobody wants a counterfeit coin. To have one in your possession makes you liable to arrest, but we all want real money. If we understood the purchasing power of real surrender we would want that too. Counterfeit or conditional surrender means giving up things that we think may be objectionable to God. It means turning from border line amusements, extravagant luxuries, and questionable companions. It may even mean a will ingness to give up our own plans for life when God shows us something bet ter. Real or unconditional surrender means not the giving up of things and friends, but the giving up of self and saying “ Lord I am ready to let your will decide everything in my life.’ It means not holding on to your plan until you see God’s and know that it is acceptable to you. It means cancelling every life plan and waiting quietly for God to work out His plan. Abraham Helping Lot. Gen. 14:11-24. Our story this morning tells us some more about Abraham and Lot, and we will see Lot did not make a good choice just because it was the best land. We know our Memory Verse already for it is the same one we had last Sunday. It teaches us such a beautiful lesson that we have it twice. Let us say 'it together. Prayer.— Let us bow our heads and ask Jesus to bless us as we have our lesson story this morning. Lesson Story.—After Lot and his family had been living in this wicked city for a long while, four kings from another country came and made war and fought against the city where Lot lived. We all know something how awful war is for they are having war now over across the big ocean. These four kings and their soldiers were strong and gained the victory over Lot and the people in the city. Then the soldiers went into the houses and car ried away the food and money and clothing and everything they wanted. They took some of the people prisoners too, and Lot and his family were among these prisoners. Abraham you know was living in another part of the country and did not know about the war. As he was standing at the door of his tent he saw a man running towards him whose clothing was all torn and he was frightened. He told Abraham that Lot and all his friends in that lovely land had been beaten in a battle, and a great many of Lot’s friends had been killed, and that all their money and cattle which they owned had been car ried away.
