Lisbon Explorer Cascais has transformed from being a sleepy fishing village to a much-loved summertime playground of wave-frolicking Lisbonites ever since King Luís I went for a dip there in 1870. Its trio of golden bays attracts holidaymakers who come to splash in the Atlantic or simply relax and explore the town, with its winding lanes, small museums, cool gardens, shiny marina and pedestrianised old town. Our wonderful tour includes a guided visit to Portugal’s capital city Lisbon, famous for its majestic architecture, old wooden trams, Moorish features and more than 20 centuries of history, as well as step on guided tours of the charming and picturesque towns of Óbidos & Sintra. We also visit one of the region’s most stunning buildings, Queluz Palace. Designated a National Monument in 1910, the National Palace of Queluz and its historical gardens are a remarkable example of the harmonious link between landscape and architecture.

PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Overnight crossing Plymouth to Santander with Brittany Ferries. Day 2 Arrival in Spain and drive to our overnight hotel near Palencia in time for dinner. Day 3 Drive to Cascais in Portugal, our home for the next 5 nights. Day 4 Guided half-day step on tour of Lisbon, with the afternoon at leisure to explore. Day 5 Guided full-day step on tour of Óbidos in the morning, and Sintra in the afternoon. Day 6 Driver’s Day Off at our resort hotel in Cascais. Day 7 Visit to the Queluz Palace and Gardens. Day 8 Drive to the golden city of Salamanca in Spain where we spend our last evening. Days 9-10 Drive to Santander for our overnight ferry to Plymouth. Based on Sunday/Wednesday departures
