Corking Kinsale & Spectacular Spike

The stunning 18th century Vienna Woods Hotel, which is nestled in woodland overlooking the Glashaboy River, is our base for this fabulous tour! Out and about, this tour is just as delightful, with a beautiful Cork Harbour cruise and a scenic ferry journey to the intriguing Spike Island. We also spend time in Cobh and Kinsale and enjoy a guided tour and tasting at the famous Jameson Distillery. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Cork Harbour Cruise, Cork & Jameson Distillery We head to the beautiful Cork Harbour this morning, the second largest natural harbour in the world. From here we board our orange boat named Cáilin Óir (Golden Girl) and embark on a 2 hour guided cruise learning more about Cork’s fascinating maritime history and hearing tales of pirates and famous captains. As we sail we admire the scattering of surrounding islands, colourful houses and fortifications including Blackrock Castle and Martello towers. We have free time for a spot of lunch in Cork before we make our way to the Jameson Distillery at Midleton where we enjoy a guided tour and tasting , discovering Jameson’s rich heritage, the field to glass process and ongoing innovations. Day 3 Spike Island & Cobh This morning we take a short, scenic ferry journey to Spike Island which, over the last 1,300 years, has been home to a 6th century monastery, a 24 acre fortress and the largest convict depot in the world. We enjoy a guided tour of the island before heading to the pretty town of Cobh with time at leisure to explore. Famous as the Titanic’s last port of call in 1912, we may wish to visit the Titanic Experience Cobh, to experience life on board the ship and the conditions for both first and third class passengers, or the Cobh Heritage Centre, a museum with exhibitions ®

Located on the outskirts of Cork, the family-owned and family-run Vienna Woods Country House Hotel is housed within an historic building built in Regency Style. Beautifully located overlooking the Glashaboy River, its rich mustard tone sets the building apart from the surrounding mountainous woodlands. The hotel has undergone a dramatic makeover to restore many of its original features, including the discovery of a 150-year-old pantry and kitchen space that has been re-imagined as a bistro restaurant. We spend today in Kinsale. Hailed as the gourmet capital of Ireland, Kinsale boasts an attractive yachting harbour and narrow winding streets full of galleries, gift shops, bars and superb restaurants. We start our day with a 1 hour guided tour of the town to get our bearings, before enjoying the rest of the day at leisure

to explore further. Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home.
