Mountains of Fun in Kilkenny & Dublin Staying at the popular Treacys Enniscorthy Hotel with its fantastic Taste of Wexford package, this tour is full of spectacular scenery and rich history. We travel through the Wicklow Mountains National Park and the valley of Glendalough, spend a day in Dublin and discover the history of Ireland’s oldest ale in Kilkenny. SUGGESTED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Wicklow Mountains National Park & Avoca OR Waterford Today, we travel through Wicklow Mountains National Park, one of Ireland’s most untouched regions, before heading to the valley of Glendalough. Here, we visit the medieval monastic ruins before calling at the town of Avoca, the filming location for ‘Ballykissangel’ and home to Avoca Handweavers, Ireland’s oldest weaving mill. Alternatively, we may wish to spend the day in Waterford, Ireland’s oldest city founded in 914, where we can discover the area’s rich history through a series of fascinating attractions. Highlights include the House of Waterford Crystal, Waterford Treasures’ three museums in the Viking Triangle, the spectacular Mount Congreve Gardens and the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway. Day 3 Dublin We spend today at leisure in the vibrant city of Dublin, home to many famous attractions. Visit the famous Guinness Storehouse, historic Dublin Castle, take a cruise on the River Liffey or simply enjoy a spot of shopping before relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere in the famous Temple Bar pub, the authentic home of Irish music, the largest selection of whiskies in Ireland and the pub with the largest selection of sandwiches in the world! Day 4 Kilkenny & Smithwick’s Experience We spend our morning at leisure in the medieval city of Kilkenny where attractions include Kilkenny Castle and the Kilkenny Design Centre, home to some of Ireland’s best craft shopping. After free time for lunch we visit the Smithwick’s Experience, located in Kilkenny’s Medieval Mile. We learn about the history of Ireland’s oldest ale, brewed since 1710, and stroll through the centuries on our interactive tour followed by a tasting! Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home.
