Our two fantastic hotels are based in the centre of Bruges, perfect for exploring all the city has to offer. WHAT TO DO IN BRUGES Horse-drawn Carriage & Canal Boat Tours Why not enjoy a 30 minute carriage ride along Bruges’ historic winding streets with expert commentary from your coachman? Alternatively, see the beauty of Bruges from the water with a 30 minute boat trip on the canals around the city. Market Square & Belfry Life in Bruges centres on the market square which is overlooked by the Belfry Tower, the most imposing in Belgium (please note: there are over 300 steps to the summit of the Belfry). The massive tower dates back to the 13th century and the view from the top looks out over all of Bruges and its surroundings. Brewery Bourgogne des Flandres After nearly 60 years, Brasserie Bourgogne des Flandres has returned to the inner city of Bruges with its own brewery (closed Mondays). Explore the brewery and breathe in the smell of malt and fresh hops in the loft. See how the beer is brewed with your own eyes – and maybe have a taste? Sint-Janshospitaal Dating back to the 12th century, Saint John’s Hospital is one of the oldest hospital buildings in Europe. Learn more about hospital life with a visit to the medieval wards, pharmacy, church and chapel, and marvel at the impressive collection of hospital records, medical instruments and artwork. The hospital also houses a collection of paintings by Hans Memling, including the famous Shrine of St Ursula. Stadhuis (City Hall) The splendid Stadhuis, located on the Burg Square, is one of the oldest city halls in the Low Countries. Admire the impressive vault and 20th century murals depicting the history of Bruges in the fabulous Gothic Hall, discover the governance of Bruges over the centuries in the adjacent historic hall, and view life- size portraits of the city’s rulers on the ground floor, where you can also find out more about the evolution of the Burg.
