Day 2 Het Loo Palace & Gardens & Netherlands Open Air Museum We start our day at the magnificent, 17th century Het Loo Palace , the former royal residence of the Dutch royal family. The Dutch baroque palace has reopened after it closed in January 2018 to undergo a major renovation project and to improve and expand visitor facilities. We’re treated to a look at the Palace’s grand interior and lavish rooms with original furniture, objects and paintings of the House of Orange-Nassau. We also explore the stunning gardens, which feature symmetrical parterres, impressive freshwater fountains and garden sculptures from Greek mythology. This afternoon we visit the fascinating Netherlands Open Air Museum for a guided tour. Day 3 Kampen & River Cruise Today we make our way to Kampen, a Hanseatic city located along the river IJssel. We can stroll through the characterful streets, exploring the historic city and its selection of shops, boutiques and cosy coffee shops, or admire some of the monuments in the well-preserved old town, including remains of the ancient city wall, gates, churches and towers. After free time for lunch, we embark on a relaxing IJssel river cruise . (River cruise public sailings from June to September only.) Setting sail from Kampen, we admire the beautiful landscapes and passing nature as our 2.5 hour circular cruise takes in the villages of Wilsum, de Zande and Zalk, turning back at the city of Zwolle.
