Eiger Mountain Glaciers & Swiss Lakes
Enjoy a scenic Swiss break at our beautifully positioned hotel in the historic town of Grindelwald. Soak in stunning views at every turn on this fantastic tour, with a relaxing lunch cruise and time spent in the lovely lakeside resorts of Thun, Interlaken and Lucerne. We also visit the open-air Ballenberg Swiss Museum and can travel in style on the Jungfrau Railway and Eiger Express cable car. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Thun & Lake Cruise This morning we enjoy free time in Thun, where we can explore the characteristic raised pavements, museums and impressive castle in the historic old town. We then embark on a scenic lake cruise from Thun to Interlaken West, complete with a three-course lunch . We take in fabulous views as we sail, with majestic mountain panoramas and beautiful landscapes on the banks and beyond providing a stunning We spend the day at leisure in our picturesque resort of Grindelwald, surrounded by its breath-taking mountainscape. Why not take a ride on the Jungfrau Railway, which for more than 100 years has been making its journey to Europe’s highest altitude railway station at 3,454 metres. From Grindelwald station, we travel via Kleine Scheidegg all the way to the impressive Jungfraujoch summit, where we are greeted by a high-Alpine wonder world which can all be marvelled at from the spectacular viewing platforms. More phenomenal views await us on our return journey, as we disembark at Eigergletscher station to catch the Eiger Express cable car back to Grindelwald. Our scenic journey lasts approximately 15 minutes, as we admire the famous Eiger North Face, surrounding Swiss Alps and Jungfrau region. Day 4 Interlaken & Ballenberg Swiss Museum backdrop to our leisurely lunch cruise. Day 3 Grindelwald Driver’s Day Off We begin our day with free time in Interlaken to explore this spectacular town surrounded by the calm waters of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. We can choose to take the Harder-Kulm funicular (mid-Apr to October only) to the top of the mountain and revel in our surrounds from the viewing platform, 1,322 metres above sea level. After time for lunch, we get a taste of rural life at the open-air Ballenberg Swiss Museum , which has more than 100 traditional, centuries-old buildings from all over Switzerland to peruse, as well as gardens, fields, farmyard animals and demonstrations of local crafts. Day 5 Lucerne This morning we embark on a 1 hour guided walking tour of Lucerne . With its lakeside location and striking mountain views, this is a pretty city to wander and we’ll take in much of its medieval architecture as we stroll. We have the rest of the day at leisure in Lucerne, so, after a spot of lunch, we can uncover more of this splendid city or revisit some of the highlights of the walking tour for a closer look. Popular sights include the fabulous wooden Chapel Bridge, the baroque 17th century church with onion topped towers, the Lion Monument carved into a cliff face and the twin Gothic towers of the Hofkirche. Day 6 Departure After breakfast, we begin our journey home.
