SWITZERLAND
Glacier Express
The Princely Glacier Express Our twin centre tour includes two nights in the prestigious resort of Zermatt and three nights in chic Klosters, connected by one of Switzerland’s best scenic train rides across the Alps, the stunning Glacier Express! We also spend a day in the Principality of Liechtenstein, complete with a guided walking tour, a sightseeing Citytrain tour, a visit to the Postal Museum and a wine tasting! PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Zermatt Driver’s Day Off Today we spend time at leisure in our spectacular resort. The day is free to explore the pedestrianised town, with its chic shops, leading to the Matterhorn Museum. This museum provides a wonderful insight into the history of both the mountain and the village itself and is an excellent introduction to the area. After a short visit, why not experience the Matterhorn first-hand by boarding the train to the summit of the Gornergrat at over 3,000 metres above sea level. Day 3 Glacier Express After breakfast, we depart our hotel and walk the short distance to Zermatt Train Station to board the Glacier Express for our 5.5 hour journey on the slowest express train in the world! We travel through snow-capped mountains and enjoy stunning views of glaciers, sparkling streams and waterfalls as we make our way towards Chur, where our coach (and luggage!) will meet us this afternoon to transfer us to the Silvretta Parkhotel, our home for the next 3 nights. Day 4 Davos & Klosters Driver’s Day Off If a further driver’s day off is required, we can explore the local areas of Davos and famous Klosters, known as a playground for princes, using the local trains, which are free for us to use courtesy of our Davos/Klosters Inclusive card , allowing convenient and easy access to the surrounding area. Day 5 Principality of Liechtenstein We spend today in Liechtenstein, a 25 kilometre-long principality between Austria and Switzerland. Upon arrival, we embark on a guided walking tour , learning more about Liechtenstein along the way. We then visit the Postal Museum , where we discover the history of Liechtenstein’s postal service through a collection of rare stamps, historic documents and machines. We also receive a souvenir stamp to remember our travels! Our day continues with a sightseeing tour on the Citytrain , taking in the old town, vineyards, Liechtenstein Castle and Rhine Park Stadium. Our journey also takes us to the Prince of Liechtenstein Winery , where we enjoy a tasting and receive a souvenir wine glass, decorated with the Princely coat of arms, to take home. Day 6 Departure After breakfast, we begin our journey home.
