Make Your Way to Lake Lucerne We keep beautiful Lake Lucerne largely within our sights on this packaged tour as we take a guided walking tour around the city of the same name and cruise along the calm waters. We also journey through plenty of breath-taking Swiss backdrops, with a scenic drive to Meiringen and a rail journey to remember on the glorious Glacier Express. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Lucerne This morning we embark on a 1 hour guided walking tour of Lucerne . With its lakeside location and striking mountain views, this is a pretty city to wander and we’ll take in much of its medieval architecture as we stroll. We have the rest of the day at leisure in Lucerne, so after a spot of lunch, we can uncover more of this splendid city or revisit some of the highlights of the walking tour for a closer look. Popular sights include the wooden Chapel Bridge, the baroque 17th century church with onion topped towers, the Lion Monument carved into a cliff face, and the twin Gothic towers of the Hofkirche. Day 3 Scenic Drive & Meiringen We spend our morning on a scenic drive, taking in glorious alpine scenery as we travel through Seelisberg and Wassen, along the Susten Pass (open June-October) and into Meiringen. This is one of Switzerland’s most photogenic drives, and on one of the few roads originally constructed for vehicles – rather than later converted – so it’s a pleasant journey complete with luscious lakes, magnificent mountains and glorious glaciers to admire (along with a few pitstops for photos along the way). Upon arrival in Meiringen, we have a free afternoon to explore. We might decide to turn detective with visits to the Sherlock-Holmes-Museum and Statue of Sherlock Holmes, or continue to bask in our pretty surrounds with a peek at the Aare Gorge and Reichenbach Falls and Funicular. We return to our hotel via the Brünig Pass and along the shores of Lake Lucerne. Day 4 Weggis This morning we descend the Seelisberg Funicular (payable locally) to reach Treib pier, where we set sail for a one way cruise from Treib to Weggis along the peaceful Lake Lucerne. Once in Weggis we have free time for lunch while we enjoy the idyllic lake and mountain panorama. Our driver will then meet us here and transport us back to Seelisberg along the lake shore. If we prefer, we also have the option of leaving our cruise prior to Weggis, at Vitznau, in order to make the most of Rigi Mountain Railways. We can jump aboard and leave the lakeside for a breath-taking mountain experience. Day 5 Glacier Express Today we make tracks for one of Switzerland’s most famed rail rides through the Alps, the magical Glacier Express . We depart from Andermatt late morning, taking our seats beside the train’s vast windows for a 2.5 hour journey to Chur . Our spectacular journey takes us through green landscapes and snow-capped mountains, and along sparkling streams and glistening glaciers. We return to our hotel via coach. Day 6 Departure After breakfast, we begin our journey home.

This friendly hotel is situated on the edge of the village of Seelisberg, only 10km from the motorway. The chalet style complex boasts spectacular panoramic lake and mountain views. There is a lift in the main building but not in the annex building. The 65 bedrooms are bright and furnished in a typical chalet style and all contain a TV and hairdryer. There is a charming traditional bar and a large restaurant with views over the lake, as well as an outside terrace which boasts breathtaking views.
