MAKEPUNG LAMPIT RACE
Unlike the traditional Makepung Race, the Makepung Lampit takes place in wetlands. In this unique event, pairs of buffalos pull a “Lampit”—a wooden board—across muddy terrain. Inspired by Balinese agricultural practices, this race symbolizes the gotong royong culture, where community members come together to assist each other. The tradition reflects the collective effort in land preparation for the harvest season, making Makepung Lampit a celebration of cooperation and shared labor.

TUMPEK KANDANG 14 DECEMBER 2024
On this day, known as Tumpek Kandang, Balinese communities celebrate the “weton wewalungan,” a special ritual dedicated to livestock and pets. The ceremony involves offerings and prayers to Sang Rare Angon, the deity of cattle and animals. The purpose is to protect these animals from illness, ensure their well-being, and bring blessings for their health and safety. This tradition highlights the deep reverence and care Balinese people have for their animals.
