I was in my early 60s and starting to consider what my eventual retirement might look like. I started researching some different options other than traditional stockbrokers. I was made aware of self-directed IRA accounts just about the time in May of 2010 when Greece first announced that it was about to be in a credit crisis. I saw the stock market drop 1000 points in one day. I quickly decided that I was not willing to allow an incident on the other side of the world to decrease the value of my retirement nest egg. My goal was to continue building it for another 8-10 years. During my self-directed IRA search, I also read about tax liens. I did like the returns, but the process seemed complex and time-consuming to understand. I run a full-time business, and I was not sure if I had the time to learn and participate in the process, let alone go to tax auctions on courthouse steps. I attended a financial network retreat where I met PIP. I hesitated for a while, almost a year before I realized the clock was ticking and I needed to continue investing. I also learned after the Greece announcement that I did want great growth, but I did not want the risk associated with stocks. I joined PIP in 2013. I felt comfortable with their procedures and program. The risk was zero. The return was better than other instruments out there. With all things there is good and bad. I knew that whatever amount I put in to invest would grow (the good). The state where you invest guarantees a specific return, so my money was safe (more good). The facts are as told by PIP; redemptions could come over any period up to three years out (not as good). Your money is not liquid. However, the longer your money is out there, the more accumulation of return there is. As I completed the process over the three-year redemption term of some of my first round of investing, PIP was professional and prepared to respond to my questions. As I went through the process of investing with PIP, I would talk to my wife. I explained my experiences as I became more confident with the results and support through PIP.
