Surprising Uses of Apple Cider Vinegar Versatile vinegar is useful for beauty, health and household issues. How does Go Vita love apple cider vinegar? Let us count the ways …

1 It is nutrient-rich! Raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar is a tremendous source of minerals, particularly phosphorus, magnesium, sulphur, iron, silica and potassium, which support bone, immune, nerve and brain health. Frequent colds, headaches or susceptibility to illness, difficulty sleeping, signs of premature ageing, such as hair loss, brittle fingernails and muscle cramps or twitching, may all benefit from a daily booster shot of apple cider vinegar. 2 It is loaded with live enzymes and natural acids , such as malic acid, which help to play a role in preventing arthritis and excess mucus production, as well as potentially helping to lower LDL (“bad” cholesterol) and muscle stiffness. For indigestion, gas or gastric reflux try one teaspoon with a half cup of warm water before meals.

3 It is a handy multipurpose household cleaner , on dirty surfaces a mix of equal parts apple cider vinegar and water with a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil will leave surfaces sparkling clean. For polishing wood, mix a half cup of vinegar and a half cup olive oil. Try mixing one part apple cider vinegar with one part water, in a spray bottle, as a deodorising spray. 4 It is awesome as a beauty treatment too! For pigmented, spotty, scarred or oily skin, simply add one part apple cider vinegar to four parts water. Apply to your skin with a cotton pad as a toner, rinsing off with warm water after ten minutes. For treating dull hair, combine one cup cool chamomile tea and one tablespoon apple cider vinegar. After conditioning rinse through hair for a shiny sheen.

Rawesome! Most commercially available apple cider vinegar is not raw. Unless it says ‘raw’ on the label, it will have been heated to high temperatures and filtered, which destroys its beneficial live enzymes and nutrients. Raw apple cider vinegar is made from freshly crushed apples that have been aged and allowed to ferment naturally in wooden, non-reactive barrels until it is mature and ready to be bottled. Check the label to ensure that the brand you select is unpasteurised, unfiltered, contains ‘the mother’ and is raw. Go Vita loves … Cleopatra’s Apple Cider Vinegar, which is made with fresh New Zealand apples, contains ‘the mother’ and is unpasteurised and certified organic.
