Our class gathered for a reunion dinner at Perry’s restaurant. There is something magical about having been born and raised in San Francisco during the time we were together; the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s in San Francisco were truly transformative. While we have each evolved into unique and independent people, there remains a common bond and outlook that unites us. We spent up to eight years together during our most formative years, four years more than many friendships formed in high school or college. Several classmates also attended preschool, high school, and even college together. When I mention that I still have friends I have known for more than 50 years, people often say, “Do you realize how unique that is?” I do realize it, and I never take it for granted. That is precisely why we have dedicated, and continue to dedicate, so much effort to reuniting this group of men. As one classmate put it succinctly: “We are a band of brothers!” We all agreed that our experience at CSB was critical to our development. Exposure to critical thinking, required foreign language, art, and music classes, the opportunity to learn Latin and sing in a well-regarded choir, and the guidance of outstanding teachers who encouraged us every step of the way make us not just proud members of this community, but eager to ensure its long-term success so that others may benefit from the same strong foundation.
