MARCUS LEE ’85
JEFFREY C. BYRNES ’89
Hey, fellow Crusaders and Hawks. I am primarily living just outside Portland, Maine, where I settled after college, and I am working in technology. Due to my work flexibility over the last several years, I have been able to split my time between Portland and San Francisco, which has been great. I regularly keep in touch with several classmates, including Michael Morris ’89, Raffi Kondy ’89, and Chris O’Brien ’89, and would love to catch up with anyone else who is nearby. Pictured Above: Raffi Kondy ’89, Michael Morris ’89, and Jeffrey Byrnes ’89 catching up in San Francisco over beers. GRANT SCHLEY ’89 I live in the Richmond District, where I am the owner of a sandwich shop called Ham & Cheese Deli and the chef of a nonprofit called City Hope, where CSB families volunteer at many Saturday breakfasts. I am also raising a seventh grader, Ozzy, who currently attends Presidio Middle School, and I coach youth football each fall with the San Francisco Police Activities League 49ers. ANDREW DAILY ’93 I live in Memphis, Tennessee, with my wife, Shelby, and our daughter, Poppy (age 5). I am an associate professor of European and global history at the University of Memphis, where I also direct the graduate studies program. My first book, “Tale of Black Histories,” was published by Liverpool University Press in May 2025. My second book, “Radical Sympathies,” is scheduled for publication in 2026. WALT COOK III ’94 I am living in Troy, Michigan, with my wife of 20 years and our daughter, who is 7 years old. I work as the senior director of research and data science for the Detroit Public Schools Community District. My goal is to help reform a school system to provide as strong a foundation for future academic and life successes as we were so fortunate to experience at CSB.
After 20 years in financial technology at Wells Fargo, I left to explore new directions and have since completed my first young adult novel, which includes a few familiar CSB names, Mr. Rees among them. I had a great visit with him last year. I recently wrapped up my term on the Root Division Advisory Council and traveled to South Africa for the first time, attending the Investec Art Fair in Cape Town and going on an unforgettable safari in Sabi Sabi. Now I am preparing to work on my next book. The photo above is of me in Edinburgh last year.
