Auburn men’s golf associate head coach Chris Williams will join Tigers head coach Nick Clinard to lead the United States at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup hosted by Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland, South Carolina. Back on home soil, Team USA looks for back-to- back Palmer Cup titles at the conclusion of the three-day tournament slated for June 5-7. Williams is set to become the fourth man, and just the second American, to both play and coach in the Arnold Palmer Cup. “It is an honor and privilege to have been selected to the coaching staff for the Arnold Palmer Cup,” Williams said. “The Palmer Cup holds a special place in my heart as I competed in two of them in 2011 and 2012. In 2011, while playing alongside Auburn legend Blayne Barber, we were fortunate enough to meet and spend time with Mr. Palmer at the Stanwich Club. To this day, it is still one of the fondest memories of my golfing career. To have the opportunity to give back to the Palmer Cup and be a part of the team on this side is an honor, and I am very grateful and excited to get to work at Congaree.” As an amateur golfer, Williams was selected to Team USA for both the 2011 and 2012 Palmer Cups. Williams led the Americans to a 13-11 victory at the Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Connecticut in 2011. Williams joins Trey Jones, the head coach of Florida State, as the two men’s assistants for the American side this summer. They will lead a group of student-athletes that includes four Auburn representatives in Anna Davis, Carson Bacha, Josiah Gilbert and Jackson Koivun. Auburn will be the first program in Palmer Cup history to have three men from the same university competing for both their head coach and assistant coach.
