Studies in Romans Book IV Romans 2:17-3:20

blood. Cain's ·religion was too sophisticated to shed the blood of a lamb but not too sophisticated to shed the blood of his brother Abel. (See I John 3: 11, J.2). Today we are seeing that the sinner's feet are swift to shed blood. However, God has His children, His born-again ones, those who are in Christ and therefore are a new creation (II Corinthians 5: 17). They have their "feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace" (Ephesians 6:15). Their goal is to take the gospel of Christ to the unsaved that they might be converted. Of them Paul added this testimony, "How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things" (Romans 10:15)! "Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known" (3: 16, 17). Our Lord described the true condition in the Sermon on the Mount when He said, "Broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat ... narrow is the way which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it" (Matthew 7:13, 14). I purposely italicized the four words, destruction, many, life and few. The many have chosen the way of destruction; few the way of life. All who have chosen the way to destruction, shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord" (II Thessalonians 1:9). Of every unsaved person it must be said, The way ofpeace they do not know. I personally can testify that, after a half-century in the service of our Lord Jesus Christ, the majority of sinners do not want to know God's peace. The 90
