CATCH STAINS EARLY Stains are an inevitable part of the job. But they don’t have to slow you down. Check your clothes for stains after each use. If you notice any, get it in the wash right away. The longer a stain sits, the harder it is to remove.
SKIP THE POWDERS Whenever possible, avoid using powdered laundry detergents. Many contain corrosive chemicals that can break fabric down over time and can even cause colors to fade and run. KEEP IT COOL Always opt for cold water when washing your uniform. Not only does it preserve colors and
help minimize shrinking, but it also gets clothes just as clean as warmer water. DON’T TOSS EVERYTHING IN TOGETHER Washing your shirts with heavier items like jeans and pants not only increases the number of wrinkles, but it can also shorten the life of the garment. Whenever possible, wash heavier items separately.

AIR-DRY WHEN YOU CAN A commercial dryer can damage fabrics over time. So when you have the option, use a clothesline or drying rack instead. (If an air dryer is a must, don’t overdo it – remove your clothes while they’re still slightly damp to avoid shrinking.) FLIP THINGS AROUND Turning your garments inside out before washing not only helps prevent fading, but it also helps preserve embroidered and printed elements.
