Programme 50 millions d’arbres offre de l’aide financière
Le programme 50millions d’arbres offre des visites sur place aux propriétaires fonciers qui sont intéressés à planter des arbres sur leurs terrains, ce qui peut aider avec la faune et peut augmenter la valeur de la propriété. Les propriétaires intéressés doivent organi- ser une visite sans tarder avec un partenaire de plantation, ce qui laisse du temps pour préparer les lieux en vue d’une plantation au printemps. Les propriétaires fonciers peuvent accéder à un financement allant jusqu’à 75%des coûts totaux de plantation, ainsi qu’à une assistance permanente en aménagement forestier. Depuis 2007, Forêts Ontario aide les pro- priétaires fonciers à donner un plus grand cachet naturel à leurs terrains avec le Pro- gramme 50 millions d’arbres. Depuis l’en- trée en fonction de ce programme, plus de 22 millions d’arbres ont été plantés sur des terrains privés et la plupart des propriétaires considéraient l’attrait de la faune comme la principale raison de s’affilier. Ceux qui possèdent un terrain comptant au moins 2,5 acres (un hectare) de terre cultivable peuvent être admissibles à ce programme de plantations d’arbres. « De nombreux arbres fournissent du pol- len et du nectar pour les abeilles et d’autres pollinisateurs, tôt au printemps, avant la floraison des arbres fruitiers et des fleurs. L’ajout d’arbres à mon terrain a été bénéfi- que pour les abeilles, et les arbres sont aussi importants car ils accueillent des oiseaux nicheurs et d’autres animaux », a déclare Karin Tomosky, « Green Leader » de Forêts Ontario. Le programme offre un finance- ment allant jusqu’à 75 %des coûts totaux des plantations aux propriétaires fonciers, ainsi qu’une assistance permanente en aménage- ment forestier. Un partenaire de plantation – un professionnel expérimenté en foresterie – travaillera avec les participants pour créer un plan en accord avec les besoins de chaque propriété pour contribuer a l’augmentation de la valeur du terrain. Vu que le meilleur temps pour la plan- tation est au printemps, les propriétaires intéressées doivent organiser une visite pour une évaluation bientôt. Police also recommend not putting 911 on a phone’s speed dial setup. If an accidental 911 call happens, police ask cellphone owners to stay on the line and explain to the dispatcher that the call was unintentional. When a 911 caller hangs up without respon- ding to the dispatcher, it is assumed that the caller may be in trouble and the 911 dispatch system tries to track the origin of the call and then notifies police.– Gregg Chamberlain
The 50 million tree program offers on-site visits to landowners who are interested in planting trees on their land, which can help with wildlife and can increase the value of the property. Interested owners should arrange an early visit with a planting partner, allowing time to prepare for spring planting.
