COASTE Southwest Florida Spring 2018

It’s that time of year again, when spring is in the air and a young man’s fancy turns to the crack of a bat impacting a 95-mile-per-hour fastball as Major League Baseball returns to Southwest Florida with the annual rite of spring training. The games begin Friday, February 23 at 1.05 PM for both clubs as the Twins travel to Fenway South to open the season against the Red Sox. Over the next five weeks, the Red Sox (17 home games at JetBlue Park) and Twins (16 home games at Hammond Stadium) will play to sell out crowds virtually every day, helping to generate what a 2015 study estimates as more than $50 million of economic impact in Lee County. But this isn’t about money, this is about picturesque and perfectly manicured green expanses of ball field, sunny blue skies, friendly small crowds, major league stars, wanna-be dreamers, chances at autographs or a foul ball, and being close enough to hear an umpire yell: “Play ball!” Tickets go fast, so get your tickets now.
