PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
The past year has seen many changes for Reedley College. Students now demand more choices, including high-quality distance education and hybrid courses in addition to both traditional and non-traditional face-to-face opportunities. Reedley also has begun a pilot project using short-term courses, building upon decades of experience at colleges across the country that have seen dramatically higher student engagement, retention and success using eight-week classes compared to their standard semester-length courses. Faculty continue to develop courses and programs that utilize competency-based education to provide greater flexibility for student learning, while the number and methods of offering early college courses also have increased with our high school partners, providing more pathways to baccalaureate degrees here in the Central Valley. Partnerships in agriculture, forestry and manufacturing continue to encourage higher rates of completion of our own certificates and associate degrees, thus raising the earning potential of graduates and the economies of our communities. This past year Reedley College created even more extended learning opportunities to address the increasing need of our adult students to upskill and reskill in this rapidly evolving technology-focused job market. Among these efforts is Reedley’s focus on agricultural technology education of our local farm workers, which has resulted in an increased earning potential and quality of life. The College will continue to pursue modernization of its existing buildings, while also creating new and more efficient learning spaces for our students. Reedley is also fundraising for construction of an “agriculture innovation center” to support future instructional program development, providing student internship opportunities while encouraging entrepreneurs to utilize our farm as a “sand box” for testing new technologies and sustainable farming techniques, thus reducing the cost of agricultural operations and increasing profit margins for our local growers. Finally, Reedley’s 100th anniversary starts on September 20, 2026, so we plan to celebrate the accomplishments of our students and the history of our college. Our celebrations will include recognition of our top 100 stars that have contributed to Reedley College’s culture and history, as well as our state championship athletic teams across time. Join us this coming year as we celebrate the heritage of Reedley College!

Annual Report 2024-2025 13
142 Noncredit/Extended Learning Courses Offered in Spring 2025 27 Disciplines 25 Noncredit Certificates of Completion
EXTENDED LEARNING The expanding Reedley College Noncredit/Extended Learning program provides access for under-prepared and underserved populations to develop skills to enhance the quality of home, family, career, and community life of our local citizens and employees. The number of noncredit courses offered and number of students enrolling in those classes has grown steadily each semester from 118 sections scheduled and 453 unduplicated noncredit students enrolled in fall 2024 to 142 sections scheduled, and 517 unduplicated noncredit students enrolled in spring 2025. Part of this growth is our partnerships with Sanger and Selma Adult schools with students completing their Office Assistant, Receptionist, Microsoft Office, or Administrative Assistant Certificates of Completion. Offered for the first time at Sanger Adult was the Explorations in Art and Community Chorus classes for lifelong learning. Selma Adult students began Computer Literacy classes offered through the Reedley College AgTEC program, forging the way for more of this program’s courses in the future. The Physical Education Fitness and Movement for Older Adult classes at these sites remain popular as well.
The Reedley College Physical Education Department also began working with the Professional Development and Mental Health Program’s Wellness Initiative, offering their Weight Training and Aerobics for Older Adults and Yoga Health and Safety for Older Adults classes. These added to the program’s mirrored, for-credit Walking classes for a wide range of physical activity opportunities for our college’s faculty and staff and greater community members. Nearly 20 new mirrored and stand-alone noncredit classes have recently gone through the curriculum vetting process and will be offered in the coming year, among them Literature for Life, Beer Making, Wine Tasting, AI Literacy, and additional Continuing Education Learning Academy courses in competency-based education and designing short-term classes.

AGTECH WORKFORCE
This surge in enrollment is matched by a significant investment in cutting-edge tools. Reedley College has poured resources into new and updated equipment, ensuring students are trained on the technologies shaping the future of farming. This includes hands-on experience with modern equipment like drones, computer systems, agriculture software, robotic kits, and virtual trainers. By mastering these tools, students gain the critical technical literacy and practical skills required for advanced roles in precision agriculture, equipment maintenance, and data management. The program is now successfully operating in five different cities: Reedley, Selma, Parlier, Orange Cove, and Madera. This geographic accessibility is proving vital, drawing students from as far away as Bakersfield and generating strong interest from the Los Angeles area, demonstrating the program’s powerful regional draw and relevance.
The AgTEC (Agriculture Technology and Education Collaborative) Workforce program has moved past its initial launch and is experiencing exponential growth. The program’s core mission is to bridge the skills gap in modern agriculture by transitioning current and future agriculture workers into high-tech, high-wage careers. In its inaugural year, the program graduated 16 dedicated students. Notably, all of these graduates are currently employed, with many earning promotions into supervisory roles, and several are moving onto two-year degree programs at Reedley College. This early success set the stage for explosive expansion: enrollment has nearly doubled from 65 students a year ago to over 120 students currently, with plans to welcome another 100 individuals in the coming academic year. This robust growth demonstrates the urgent demand for the program’s flexible education model, allowing students to move at their own pace and offers courses in both Spanish and English. YOUR TURN.
