2024-2025 Reedley College Annual Report

YEAR HIGHLIGHTS

FLIGHT SCHOOL IN SESSION On August 9, Reedley College held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the flight school’s new location at the Reedley Municipal Airport. Students can now take all of their flight classes locally instead having to go to Fresno. All of the classroom work, including flight simulator training, remains on campus in the Aeronautics Building. EXCELLENCE IN AG EDUCATION RECOGNIZED ONCE AGAIN Reedley College’s Agriculture Department was named the Outstanding Post-Secondary Department for the East Fresno/Madera Section, and also the Outstanding Department for the entire San Joaquin Region for 2024-2025. The honors were awarded by the California Agriculture Teachers Association (CATA). THE CURTAIN GOES UP ON THE MCFPA After years of dreaming, planning, fundraising, groundbreaking, and building, Reedley College proudly held its ribbon cutting ceremony for the McClarty Center for Fine and Performing Arts (MCFPA) November 19, 2024. This $30 million, 508-seat facility is now the crown jewel of our campus. GRAMMY AND EMMY ARTIST ON CAMPUS Students, staff and our community were treated to a magical few days with Grammy and Emmy nominated pianist and composer Philip Aaberg in December 2024. Mr. Aaberg taught music improvisation and held a masterclass for young pianists. In addition, Mr. Aaberg performed a solo piano concert in our McClarty Center for Fine and Performing Arts on our newly donated Steinway D concert Grand Piano. CHOINUMNI MONUMENT DEDICATION A new granite monument now resides on the Library Lawn in honor of our local Native American tribal community. The Choinumni monument dedication ceremony took place January 11. The monument is engraved with a message of friendship, partnership, and recognition of the people who first resided on the land our campus is built upon.
