Open Replacement Heifers The heifers in this offering were chosen for their futures as cows. They were not chosen for the show ring. They are good structured out of good mamas – built for production. These heifers will be sold in groups of five (determined by Sale Day), with buyer’s choice for each group. That means the winning bid can take one, two or all of them. If they don’t take them all, we will continue to sell the remaining ones in the group until all are sold. Then the 2nd group will go the same way. As a point of reference, all of our female calves enter our heifer development program in early December, but because of weather this year, these girls were a few weeks late getting started. With all of the snow and mud, they lost around 50 lbs from their weaning weights. However, once they got on feed, they have been doing really well. Once all of the heifers are ultrasounded in February, we make the decisions on which to cull, which to sell as replacements and which to keep in our herd. These 10 females were chosen from the replacement bunch with the intention of going out into other herds and making an impact for the buyer. Lots of calving ease and maternal merit in this Glory daughter. Her bottom side is from one of our favorite established cow lines, so she should be headed in that same direction for anyone taking her home. This heifer has a nice, solid set of EPD’s. A very well-balanced heifer, who goes back to a SEGA cow (“Friendly Fran”) we bought quite a few years ago. Just a nice, well-balanced heifer, out of one of our favorite heifers from several years ago (a NWSS pen heifer) and BGGR Kick Start, one of our up-and-coming herd bulls. Another good solid heifer destined to be a good solid cow. A Kansas daughter, with a calving ease and great Indexes (Top 10% in all 3), giving her a lot of mating flexibility. Her grandmother is another Dam of Merit. Another Kansas daughter, with good balanced EPD, Indexes, carcass and maternal value. Her bottom side pedigree is steeped in top-end cows from our operation. That history, coupled with her sire, should make a great cow.
