The Word’s a BALM to heal The broken heart. New life, and strength, and seal It doth impart. The Word’s a GIRDLE SURE To brace the loins. It girds us to endure What truth enjoins. The Word’s the S P IR IT ’S SWORD. As sharp as steel. To kill unholy words Its power we feel. The Word’s the PILGRIM’S STAY While here below. It helps us on our way A s home we go. The Word’s a C A SK E T R A R E . Its gems are great. Its cost can none declare On earth’s estate. (NOTE—A Scripture reference for each line of each verse will be found by reading the following references across the column): BIBLE MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE It is quite true that there are many who say they believe the Bible and accept evolution also. But how those who are mentally sound and capable of logical consistency can accept two mutually exclusive propositions at the same time, It is Impossible to under stand. We will be compelled to let those who say they accept both the Bible and evolution explain how they do it—if they can! But meantime, if we take pains to make careful inquiry of such people, we shall find that in every case where logical and consist ent thinking has any meaning what ever, a choice has been made between the Bible as an lnerrant and infallible Book and the theory of evolution. It is quite possible for a man to hold the “scientific” or “historical” attitude'to ward the Bible, which makes it a hu man book marred by many errors, and believe in evolution at the same time; but the man who holds that attitude toward the Bible does not believe it at all! No one can accept the theory of evolution and the doctrine of an in- errant Bible at the same time.—J. D. Conant, D.D., Author and Evangelist. 1 Pet. 2:2. Acts 20:32. Eph. 3:16.
