our own pizzas. I just try to make eating fun and good.” For them, everything is about choice, from their food to their friends. “I only sur- roundmyself with positive people. Just over 11 years ago, I disappeared for a week to do some serious self-reflecting and healing.” One week later, he came back with a changed attitude and met his wife. “His mom thinks I was the change, I think I was the reward,” added Stephanie. By taking care of themselves and loving each other, they are able to provide for their family and people around them. “We’re very affectionate and we hug a lot. We never hang up the phone or leave the house without saying I love you. I want my daughters to understand what love is. My wife is every- thing in the world to me,” admitted Justin. “We complement each other, we work well as a team. We get stronger every day and tomorrow we’ll be better than we were today. And this (the sauces) is a big part of that too. I want to do this every day, withmy wife, my kids and my dogs.” Right now, their three-year goal is to get a big enough piece of property and start growing their own organic peppers. “I want to have full control so I know that all that I’m giving to people is 100 per cent beneficial to them.” In themeantime, they have just released their own website at www.justawesome- sauce.ca and are now secretly working on a new array of sauces.

Just Awesome sauce is the labor of love of Limoges residents, Justin and Stephanie Deveau. Not only is it packed with high quality and fresh ingredients, it is also punctuated with a rich taste that literally travels across the palate. About a year ago, a nutritionist friend needed an idea to present her clients with, during a nutrition seminar. The proposed challenge was to create something that didn’t contain any iodized salt, preserva- tives, artificial colors or flavors; basically, nothing that wasn’t real. Justin then triedmany versions of cooked sauces at first and it ignited a passion for himand his wife. Although the sauces were a hit, for this professionally trained chef of 20 years, something was still missing. That’s when he proceeded to experiment with raw sauces. “When sauces are cooked, not only do you lose all nutrients, but you just get one heat, one flavor,” he explained. According to Justin, the experience of a raw sauce is also quite more enjoyable for the palate. “It always starts on the front of the tongue and you get the sweetness, the peppers and the garlic. And then the spice kicks in the back and it finishes with the tang from the vinegar and the lime juice. So, as it crosses the palate, it changes and you get that depth of flavor.” The couple make a variety of raw sauces

in their own kitchen, sourcing the best in- gredients to bring healthy and affordable flavor. Every batch is different and they use ingredients everyone can pronounce: or- ganic apple cider vinegar, sea salts, natural and fresh ingredients. It is local, natural, vegan, gluten and sugar free; it can be added to anyone’s lifestyle or diet. “It’s awesome to get to share something as natural and as healthy with people that don’t necessarily realize it’s good for them. It’s quite literally the healthiest hot sauce you canmake, with the exception of organic

peppers, which we would have to grow our- selves.” As amatter of fact, one of their sauces called La cura (the cure), with its high ratio of Spanish violet garlic, has immunity-boosting benefits. “Take two tablespoons before bed and call me in themorning to say thank you.” Justin and his wife believe food is not just sustenance, but food for the soul. Whether it is with their two daughters, Justin’s dad who lives with themor even their two dogs, they are very conscious of what they chose to put on their plates. “Even yesterday, I bought organic pizza crust and we made
