18) The participants can apply fire extinguishers efficiently and safely (Skill, intermediate level)

19) The participants can solve how to act according to the continency plans in a WTG (Ability, basic level)

The participants shall:

Explain the elements required for a fire to start and be extinguished (e.g. by referring to the fire triangle)

Describe the fire hazards found in the wind industry

Describe the principles of a contingency plan

Explain advantages and disadvantages of various fire extinguishers

Deploy various relevant fire extinguishers based on the assessment of the fire

As a minimum, the instructor shall demonstrate how to correctly use a handheld carbon dioxide (CO2) extinguisher, a water extinguisher, and a fire blanket

Note

Dry chemical extinguishers shall be explained where possible and in accordance with local legislation. This demonstration should be conducted using live fire and active extinguishing agents

ELEMENT 2.4 - SKILL STATION: USING FIRE BLANKETS

Learning objective:

20) The participants can solve how to act in a given situation based on an assessment of the fire and select the right extinguishing media according to the fire classes (Ability, basic level)

21) The participants can apply fire blanket efficiently and safely (Skill, intermediate level)

The participants shall:

Describe the fire hazards found in the wind industry

Explain advantages and disadvantages of using fire blankets on different types of fires (based on national guidelines)
