ELEMENT 3.3 - TRAINING SCENARIOS: RESCUE AN INJURED PERSON FROM A LADDER
Learning objectives:
29) The participants can perform the correct use of the rescue device in active and passive mode (Skills, intermediate level)
30) The participants can perform the appropriate use of different types of guided type fall arresters (e.g. slider, glider) and SRL while showing awareness of fall factors (Skills, intermediate level)
31) The participants can take responsibility for the safe and correct use of work positioning lanyards (Ability, intermediate level)
Each participant must rescue in active and passive mode, but can choose the order in which to complete within the scenario
Note
Scenario description While working in a nacelle, a technician slips on the ladder, sustains an injury, and is unable to climb. The other technician needs to rescue their colleague from the ladder to get them to medical assistance.
The participants shall:
Correctly attach evacuation device to a suitable anchor point
Correctly attach the injured person to rescue device
Show awareness of preventing suspension trauma
Apply the hip overhang technique to move casualty away from the ladder
Perform a rescue in active and passive mode
Secure tools, equipment, accessories, minor components, items, and parts by adequately tethering to prevent dropped objects
