ELEMENT 3.2 - TRAINING SCENARIO: EMERGENCY EVACUATION FROM A CREW TRANSFER VESSEL (CTV)
Learning objectives:
31) The participants can perform safely entering the water from height (max 1.5 meters) (Skills, intermediate level)
32) The participants can solve how to minimise the risk of hypothermia while in the water (Ability, basic level)
33) The participants can take responsibility for supporting other participants while applying collective swimming techniques (Ability, intermediate level)
34) The participants can take responsibility for ensuring the correct use of a life raft in an emergency at sea (Ability, intermediate level)
Scenario description While underway on the CTV, an emergency call has gone out to evacuate the vessel. Participants are already wearing their transfer suit, helmet, and life jacket.
The participants shall:
Individually enter the water safety from height (safety jump)
Assume suitable position to mitigate effects of cold-water shock
Regroup for Collective Hypothermia Mitigation
Collective Swimming Techniques to Life Raft
Righting life raft (optional)
Safely enter the life raft
Conduct Immediate actions when in the life raft and consider further procedures in Life Raft
Conduct actions to enhance detection at sea in a life raft with the available equipment
Possible Extraction from Helo Strop/Basket (optional, dependent on-site limitations )
