scribe beautiful eyes and attractive teeth but whoever read of beautiful feet in some ad? Our Lord has provided for beautiful feet by saying that the believer’s feet are to be shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace (Ephesians 6:15). Again, “How beauti ful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace” (Romans 10:15). Would you think that a pair of shoes would be worth more than a man? A HOME WITHOUT A BIBLE What is home without a Bible? 'Tis a home where day is night. Starless night for along life’s pathway What is home without a Bible? 'Tis a family at sea, a compass lost and rudder broken Drifting, drifting hopelessly. What is home without a Bible? Listen and ponder while I speak 'Tis a "home with Bibles in it But opened only once a week Lost the Bible, lost its teaching, •Lost its help each day in seven. Lost to live by, lost to die by Lost! What's lost? The way to heaven! Read Amos 2:6, “They sold the right eous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes.” Human life isn’t very valu able when the grace of God is excluded from the heart. The beautiful traits of character, which we love to see in men, come from the heart of God and are imparted by the Holy Spirit. Let us trust ourselves to Christ Jesus the Lord that He may fit our feet for the paths of life. * * * The true Christian is a person who is right side up in an upside down world. * The church cannot win its way in the world by following the ways of the world. * * * All of us might be more success ful if we followed the advice we give to others. * * Heaven can shed no kindly light. 'Tis a place where daily bread For the body is provided But the soul is never fed.

MISSING THE MARK Do you feel you are hitting the mark in life; or have the affairs and cares, frustrations and failures, problems and pressures crowded in about you? A soldier was attempting to win a prize for marksmanship. Taking his turn w ith the others he drew a bead an the target and pressed the trigger. His hand was steady and his eye unmoved, yet he missed; the bullet deviated from its course and he lost the prize. When he checked his gun he noticed some rust particles in the bore of the rifle. He had polished the outside, the stock was beautifully shined, but the inside of the barrel was dirty. This is quite an analogy to the Christian life. To make certain of our appearance be fore others we comb our hair, see that our shoes are shined and that we are generally dressed properly. The out ward polish of religious activity and ritual all too often covers over . the rust of a sin-stained heart; pur spirit ual aim is spoiled. God says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life.” • * * BIOLA STANDARDS Some people have asked, “Is it still true that Biola students are required to abstain from such things as attend ing motion pictures, smoking, drinking, playing cards and the like?” We an swer emphatically, YES! God has clear ly told us to come out from among the world and to be set apart wholly to Him. A well-known judge was having lunch with some politicians on a very hot day. One of them said, “Judge, l see yotCre just drinking coffee. W ith this heat, you ought to have some sharp iced drink. Tell me, have you ever tried gin and ginger ale?” The judge smiled and responded, “No sir, I’ve never tried gin and ginger ale, but I have tried several fellows who have.” We realize Biola students are not perfect, but we are thankful for their deep love and abiding conviction for the Saviour and concerning the god less system in which we live today. 29
