GOODBYE, DADA!

Shams Chowdhury, known as Dada, started his career at Frenchman’s Creek on October 7, 1994, and worked here until February 28, 2025. We want to take the opportunity to express how grateful we are for everything Dada has done for us. His dedication, commitment, and tireless work have left a profound mark that will last forever here at Frenchman’s. During his time here, he was not only an exceptional leader but also a source of inspiration and support for all of us who had the privilege of working by his side. But what truly set Dada apart was his incredible ability to make everyone who met him for the first time feel like family. His kindness, warmth, and genuine care for others are qualities we should all strive to emulate in our interactions with members and coworkers. We wish him all the best in this new chapter. And we know that even though he is retiring from Frenchman’s Creek, the legacy he left will remain and continue guiding us toward success. Thank you Dada for everything you taught us and for being such an important part of our story. We will miss you dearly, and you will always be a part of the Frenchman’s Creek family!

RAMADAN EVENING OF FRI, FEB 28, 2025 – SAT, MAR 29, 2025

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is considered the holiest month for Muslims. It is a time of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. Why is it called the Holy Month? Ramadan is sacred because it’s believed to be the month when the Qur'an was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad by the angel Jibreel (Gabriel). During this time, Muslims strive to grow closer to God through fasting, worship, and good deeds. Fasting (Sawm) Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, refraining from eating, drinking, and other physical needs. This fast is broken each evening with a meal called iftar. The pre-dawn meal is called suhoor. Worship and Charity In addition to fasting, Muslims engage in extra prayers and read the Qur'an. Charity (called Zakat and Sadaqah) is also a key part of Ramadan, with many Muslims giving to those in need. Eid al-Fitr At the end of Ramadan, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr, a festive holiday marked by prayers, feasting, and giving thanks.

Ramadan is a time of spiritual growth, reflection, and generosity, where Muslims focus on purifying both the body and soul.

STAFF PETS OF THE WEEK

Meet Cleo Fifi Say Hello to Cleo Fifi. She belongs to Ana Gomes, our Food and Beverage H2B. She is a 7 month old Dachshund. She is the sweetest couch companion who loves nothing more than snuggling with her little blanket and going to the park. She also loves a Starbucks puppuccino. When she is not napping or hanging out with family, she keeps herself "busy" by (unfortunately) destroying Ana’s Lego collection for no apparent reason!

Employment of Friends and Relatives (Page 11 -12)

Frenchman’s Creek strongly encourages the referral of your friends and acquaintances for employment. However, it is our policy not to employ relatives of present employees within the same work department to eliminate the possibility of interference with internal control practices. A relative is defined as: husband/wife, mother/father, mother-in-law/father-in-law, son/daughter, daughter-in- law/son-in-law, brother/sister, uncle/aunt, and first cousin. If Frenchman’s Creek determines that a violation of this policy has occurred, effective remedial action will be taken in accordance with the circumstances. The employment of relatives or individuals involved in a dating relationship within the same area of an organization has the potential to cause conflicts and issues with nepotism or employee morale. In addition to claims of partiality in treatment at work, personal conflicts from outside the work environment can be carried over into day-to-day working relationships. For purposes of this policy, a relative is any person who is related by blood or marriage or whose relationship with the employee is similar to that of persons who are related by blood or marriage. A dating relationship is defined as a relationship that may be reasonably expected to lead to the formation of a consensual “romantic” or sexual relationship. This policy applies to all employees without regard to the gender or sexual orientation of the individuals involved. An employee may not occupy a position working directly for or supervising a relative. Employees are also prohibited from occupying a position working directly for or supervising an employee with whom they are dating. The Club also reserves the right to take prompt action if an actual or potential conflict of interest arises or where employment decisions may be affected that involve relatives or individuals in a dating relationship who occupy a position, at any level, in the same line of supervisory authority or direct reporting. If a relative or dating relationship, as described above, is established between employees after employment, it is the responsibility and obligation of the supervisor involved in the relationship to disclose the existence of the relationship to management. The individuals concerned may be offered the opportunity to decide who will be transferred to another available position; however, management reserves the right to decide who is to be transferred or, if necessary, terminated from employment. In other cases where a conflict or the potential for conflict arises because of the relationship between employees, even if there is no line of authority or reporting involved, the employees may be separated by reassignment or terminated from employment. Employees in a close personal relationship must refrain from public workplace displays of affection or excessive personal conversation.

CELEBRATING THE WOMEN OF FRENCHMAN'S CREEK

Women's History Month has its origins in International Women's Day (March 8), which has been celebrated for over a century, tracing back to the early 1900s. The specific month-long celebration began as Women's History Week in the United States. It started in 1978 in Sonoma County, California. The week was chosen to coincide with International Women's Day on March 8. The celebration gained momentum and grew nationally, leading to the U.S. Congress officially expanding it to the entire month of March in 1987. Since then, Women's History Month has been celebrated annually in the United States, with each year featuring a theme selected by the National Women's History Alliance. Other countries, like the UK and Australia, also celebrate the month, though they may choose different times of the year. This Women's History Month, we want to thank the amazing women at Frenchman’s for your hard work, dedication, and leadership. Your contributions shape our success every day, and we’re grateful for everything you do. Let’s continue to inspire and empower each other!
