SHARING PROFESSIONAL LEARNING: EDUTECH 2023

What an enriching experience it was to visit the 2023 EduTECH conference as I navigated through the expansive venue, engaged in discussions with vendors and reconnected with colleagues current and former. My first day was dedicated to exploring the trade show floor where I conversed with industry experts and kept up to date with the latest technological trends. With newfound inspiration, I am now contemplating strategies to enhance the technology landscape at The Lakes to maintain and enhance the dynamic and engaging experience we provide. My second day led me to plunge into rapid - fire learning sessions, akin to lightning rounds, each spanning 20 - minute durations but delivering impactful insights from the get - go. I also participated in more extensive sessions, affording hands - on experience with various tools and technologies, unveiling features and concepts for our existing resources that weren't on my radar. I can't wait to implement some of the things I learnt and share these discoveries with our staff! Justin I had heard great things from other staff about the EduTECH conference, but what I was not expecting was one of the greatest and exciting professional development sessions I have ever been to. Over the two days I was able to connect and interact with fellow staff and from other schools, view new and exciting ideas on how to implement technology across the whole school as well as work with new companies and programs to bring to The Lakes. I was particularly excited to see how other schools were including AI into their learning programs and how it was being managed. Between each learning session I wandered the stalls, talked to different companies about what they offered and even got to play with some VR and new robots. We are in a new age of technology where we have the opportunity to adapt, enhance and embrace a new way of teaching and learning. I look forward to sharing the new ideas with our learning community. The EduTECH conference experience was a fascinating blend of technology and education. It felt like stepping into a technology version of Comic - Con, with a seemingly endless array of stalls and innovations that left me in awe. What caught my attention was the exploration of Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. While virtual events can never replace the energy of in - person gatherings, they offer an array of unique advantages that left me both impressed and excited. On my first day, I found myself immersed in a multitude of conferences that delved into unlocking the potential of AI in education and incorporating VR learning experiences into classrooms. The possibilities seemed boundless. Witnessing educators and tech enthusiasts come together to discuss the merging of these technological advancements with education was mind bending. Day two was equally enthralling as I attended conferences that focused on reversing the decline in writing standards, integrating 3D printers for hands - on learning, and delving into the latest features in collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams. These sessions showcased how technology is becoming intricately woven into the fabric of education, enhancing engagement and learning outcomes. As the day progressed, I had the chance to traverse the stalls. From immersive learning platforms that transported students to forests, deserts and planes, to the unveiling of STEM Education Innovations that encouraged budding scientists and engineers, and the latest advancements in classroom management software that streamlined teaching approaches—it was an intellectual playground of possibilities. What struck me repeatedly was the emphasis on creativity and immersion in education, facilitated by technology in easily digestible fragments. The integration of AI, VR, and other tools wasn't just about using gadgets—it was about breathing life into lessons, sparking curiosity, and making learning a captivating adventure. I am excited to integrate the newfound insights and tools that I discovered during those two days and share it with the school. Stevce
