Peter, too, had learned from his vision up on the housetop, that the gospel story was

Objects: An empty picture frame, a pic ture representing Christ to fit the frame, a piece of currency, a work glove, and a beautiful piece of silk. Lesson: This picture frame does not look right. It is empty, and a picture frame is intended to be filled. Would it look right to place a piece of money in the frame? No, you say, but there are people who think that money can fill every need of their lives. This beautiful piece of silk does not look right in a picture frame, either. There are those who believe that fine clothes will fill and satisfy their, lives. Doesn’t this glove look strange trying to fill the frame? It is a good thing to work, but no amount of work will fill the empty heart. Some think the heart can be filled by working hard for the church, neighbors, and the poor. It is a good thing to help others, but the helping of them will not fill the heart. What this frame needs is a picture; and I have one which fits it. It is a picture representing Christ. Many people are try ing to fill their lives with things, rather than with a Person—Jesus Christ, who completely fills and satisfies the life. Paul realized this great truth when he wrote in Galatians 2:16, "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ.”

Judea and Samaria and to the uttermost part of the earth. They thought that no one could be a Christian who was not first a Jew or a follower of the Jewish religion. Lesson Story: This was all very puz zling to the new Gentile Christians. Why did they need to keep all of the Jewish laws? T h e leaders of the church decided to meet and talk it over. So Paul and Barnabas and Peter and James and John and others of the elders and apostles met. Peter first reminded them of how God had chosen him to tell the gospel to Cornelius and other Gentiles and how he had been shown by the vision on the housetop that Jews and Gentiles are all the same in God's sight. Then Paul and Barnabas told what mir acles God had done through them among the Gentiles. Next James got up and said that he thought the Gentiles should not be troubled about the Jewish laws, that if they lived lives that would be good examples to those about them, people would know that they were Christians. And so it was de cided to send Paul and Barnabas to them to explain that it was what they believed about, the power of the Lord Jesus to save them from sin that was of most importance. Acts 15:36 And some days after, Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do. ^;• 16:4 And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem. 5 And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily. 6 Now when they had gone throughout Phry gia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, 7 After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. 8 And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas. 9 And a vision appeared U> Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. 10 And after he had seen the vision, imme diately we endeavored to go into Macedonia, as suredly gathering that the Lord had called us for BLACKBOARD LESSON

to preach the gospel unto them. 11 Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis; 12 Ana from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in tnat city abiding certain days. 13 And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither . 14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worship ped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. 15 And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us. Lesson Text: Acts 15:36; 16:4-15. Golden Text: “And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavored to go into Macedonia” (Acts 16:10).
