National IAPS Triathlon Title in the Junior School once more

Q Six Junior School boys went to the IAPS Triathlon Championships at Dulwich Prep Cranbrook in early June. In beautiful weather the boys swam, cycled and ran around the grounds against nearly 450 other children from across the country. In the Year 5 event the four DC entrants, in their first triathlon, really enjoyed it and learnt a great deal about the different elements, transition and in particular cycling. Well done to Tristan Saunders, Toby Polli, Isaac Dudzicki and William Davies . In the Year 6 event, our two seasoned pros, Christo Chilton and Zac Crowther , once again showed their class. Zac came 4th and Christo not only won the Year 6 event (to retain his national title) but, because he did the same course and distance as the Year 7s and 8s – a field of over 260 children - actually came third overall beating all the Year 7s and all but two of the Year 8s.

AQUATHLON

Q The Junior School Aquathlon once again featured in the House Competition this year, with boys swimming, jumping out of the pool, putting on their PE shirts and then running around the Athletics track. Different distances were set for each Year Group as boys set off at 20 second intervals to avoid total chaos in the pool! The novelty of the boys trying to put their trainers on whilst simultaneously taking off their goggles and then running whilst soaking wet did not wear off.
