NEW FIREFIGHTER Alfred-Plantagenet Township council confirmed the appointment of France Patry as a new addition to the volunteer firefighter ranks for the Alfred Village fire station.– Gregg Chamberlain COMMUNITY CENTRE UPGRADE The Vankleek Hill Community Centre needs upgrading and Champlain Township will ask for help from the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP). The building, which houses both the community centre and the arena, was built more than 40 years ago. If approved the township could get up to 73 per cent of the money needed towards the cost of the upgrades. The parks and recreation department is working with consultant firm, EVB Engineering, on preparing the ICIP application. – Gregg Chamberlain
