n Forever 2020 will be infamously known for the Year of Covid. The Junior School, like everyone, had to work really hard to recreate our special education online and very quickly we were up and running for the summer term. Using Microsoft Teams and Zoom, a detailed and rich curriculum, huge amounts of time and bespoke support from teachers and a great deal of enrichment and co-curricular opportunities, the provision ended up being fantastic and received high praise from boys and parents alike. But for me, seeing the boys each morning in their daily hellos to their form and their teachers, doing assemblies three times a week, hearing how the 40 different clubs were adding to the boys’ enjoyment, as well as the free learning days, the remote sports week (replacing Sports Day) and the virtual Speech Day, were all particular highlights. In reflecting on the whole term, it was hard work and relentless in terms of time, but I have to say it was probably my most rewarding and enjoyable term in my 20 years of teaching.
