WNHGO: Women’s 9 Hole Golf Organization
WNHGO Winter Golf is in full swing with 29 golfers registered, despite the recent cold weather. Sign-up sheets are posted in the Arlington and Fairfax ladies’ locker rooms. A total of 10 rounds of golf must be played only at the ANCC courses and with at least one other golfer, who does not have to be a WNHGO member. Players are to post their scores on the grid sheets on the locker room bulletin boards. The season started 1 November and ends 31 March. Mark your calendars for the WNHGO Rules Clinic (3 March) and the Spring Luncheon (17 March), both in Arlington. Details to follow. WNHGO welcomes new members throughout the year. Any female ANCC member, spouse, or dependent is eligible to join provided you have a USGA-registered handicap and are familiar with the USGA Rules of Golf. WDCGA: Women’s District of Columbia Golf Association
Although the Women’s District of Columbia Golf Association (WDCGA) usually begins the golf season in April with Team Match Play, 2026 will look a little different. The Keefer Cup, traditionally held at Chevy Chase club in early May, will be the opening tournament for 2026. Chevy Chase will host lower handicap players (criteria TBD) for the 2 day stroke play event 15-16 April, followed on Saturday, 25 April with the Icebreaker at Argyle CC. Army Navy is fielding two teams for team matchplay this year. Division V players (Karen Marcotte, Danielle Hetzler, Tina Gwilliam, Pam Quinn and Susan Walthall will start on April Montgomery CC. Division II players Shelley Savage, Legare Augenstein, Andi Carpenter, Gwen House, Linda Nguyen and Margaret Ann Connors start 23 April at Columbia Country Club and will also get to play Springfield CC, Westwood CC, and TPC Potomac. Good luck to all players and especially the Match Play Teams! WDCGA is open to ANCC ladies who are members of either CWGO or WGO-18, have played at least 20 rounds in the prior 12 months and have a Handicap Index of 21.9 or below. Although players have already registered for 2026, registration can occur at any time during the year. The new CWGO board held their first meeting 3 December and covered a great deal of business for the upcoming golf season. Things the ladies of CWGO can look forward to in 2026 include: an exciting kickoff event, our traditional annual tournaments, and the opportunity to purchase new CWGO-branded apparel. Also on 3 December, several ladies met for the first of several planned socials during the off-season. Members should keep an eye out for emails and Facebook (https:// www.facebook.com/groups/ancc.cwgo) updates.
