K9 cops called on burglary capers der the Young Offenders Act.
The OPP K9 Unit was called in to help deal with a couple of burglary incidents in Rockland. Police received a call Nov. 3 about a break- in at the Dépanneur Lemieux on Laurier Street. The report said an unknown number of suspects were still in the building. The officers answering the call sent in a request for the K9 Unit before entering. Two Rockland youths, ages 16 and 13, were found inside and arrested on charges of break-and-enter. They will appear at the Dec. 19 provin- cial youth court session in L’Orignal. Their names have been withheld as required un-

Missing person Ottawa police and firefighters from the City of Ottawa and the Gatineau munici- pality spent the first Monday of November searching the Ottawa River and the shore- lines on both the Ontario and Québec sides for a missing 75-year-old man. The man boarded the Cumberland-Mas- son Ferry from the Ontario side earlier that day. When the ferry docked at Masson, the man’s vehicle remained on board and was unoccupied.
No other details of the case were avail- able from police as of press time Tuesday. The search was still in progress and police are listing the matter as a missing person investigation. Traffic accident In the early-morning hours of Nov. 2, po- lice responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on County Road 17. Police report that a 17-year-old Clarence Creek woman lost control of her vehicle and it went into the ditch along the county road near the Ramage Road intersection. Her ve- hicle airbag deployed, resulting in no inju- ries to the driver. She is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving. Domestic call Police have charged a 51-year-old Rock- land man with assault and uttering threats following investigation of a report on a do- mestic incident Nov. 1 on Patricia Street in Rockland. A woman reported to police that she was victim of physical abuse. The man’s name was not included in a press release on the case. He was scheduled for a show cause hearing in court Nov. 4 on the charges. Stolen Vehicle Police are looking for a stolen car taken from the driveway of a Bourget residence sometime in the afternoon Nov. 2. The occupants of a house on Lapointe Street were away for the afternoon that day. When they returned home they found their 2011 Subaru Imprezza, a four-door white sedan, was gone. It has an Ontario licence with the plate identification BHX A863. Police on the scene found some broken glass at the site where the car was taken. Anyone with information can call Const. Mi- chel Corbeil at the Rockland OPP station at 446-5124. Drunk driver After midnight Nov. 3 OPP answered a call about a collision on County Road 17 west of the Concession 5 road in Alfred-Plantagen- et Township. Constables Pascal Boudreau and Francine Lévèsque arrived on the scene and found a truck in the ditch on the north side of the road. The truck had extensive damage but the occupants were uninjured. The driver, Mitchell Robert Foster, 22, of Eldon Township was charged with driving with a blood-alcohol content exceeding 80 milligrams and with dangerous driving. He was released on a promise to appear at the Nov. 20 provincial court session in L’Orignal. A person driving a dirty red pickup truck was seen at a construction site on Denis Street in Wendover Oct. 27, between 10:30 and 11 a.m. The individual drove off with scaffolding from the site. Earlier in the week on Oct. 31 police re- sponded to a break-in report at the Café Laroche on Laurier Street in Rockland. A broken window was found but there were no certain signs that anyone had entered. The OPP K9 Unit was called to the scene but a search of the premises and surround- ing area yielded nothing. A police media release noted this is the second break-in in- cident within two weeks in the area. Anyone with information on the break-in can call Const.
