Fire and Safety Procedures
When a fire is first discovered:
- Locate the nearest fire hose cabinet and break the "break glass" to sound the fire alarm; and - Go to the nearest telephone, call the Colleagues Housing Manager by dialing his mobile number 0565754194 or telephone the building’s security personnel to report the fire or smoke.
1. 2. 3.
Identify yourself by name and department. Explain the exact location of the fire or smoke.
Describe the situation of the fire or smoke, and report injury, if any.
Attempt to put out the fire with the correct type of extinguisher only if you are trained to fight the fire. However, if in doubt as to your safety, leave the area, closing all doors behind you as you leave.
1. 2. 3.
Use WATER on all solid materials like paper, textile fabrics, wood, etc. DO NOT USE WATER on live electrical apparatus or inflammable liquids. Use the extinguisher on inflammable liquids and electrical apparatus.
If the fire cannot be controlled, close the door(s) and keep it closed until the arrival of the emergency team. Unroll the nearest fire hose for use by the emergency team. Before opening any door in the fire area, check the door first by using the back of your hand. A hot door handle indicates that the fire has spread, DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR. In case of fire, DO NOT use the elevators.
For the safety of all, colleagues are advised to ensure the following:
- Corridors, staircases, and emergency exits are kept clear of any obstacles that can hinder the escape of any person during an emergency. - As a preventive measure, the smoking of cigarettes, shisha, lighting of cand incense sticks and open flames are strictly prohibited in the flats.
The Hotel reserves the right to amend the content of the Colleagues Accommodation Handbook, as deemed necessary without prior notice.
