1. Introduction

1.1 Overview

Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai believes that its most important asset is its human resources.

The role of Management is to establish policies and procedures designed to improve the

quality of work life in the Hotel. The aim is to address and sufficiently provide for the

needs of employees while at the same time, establish the standards of discipline and

professionalism required by employees in achieving service excellence.

The rules and regulations contained in this Guide are geared towards the achievement of

these objectives. The Guide provides a mechanism through which expected norms of

conduct are clearly defined to ensure consistency, objectivity and efficiency in managing

the Hotel. Further, the Guide serves as a communication tool designed to instill

discipline, harmony and fairness in handling employees. It is therefore a very effective

reminder of what we continuously aim to become, a First Choice Employer, and an

organization that has respect and consideration for one another.
