1.2 Objective
The Guide aims to promote, ensure and achieve the following:
1.2.1 To understand and internalize the conduct expected of Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai employees. 1.2.2 To ensure consistency in disciplinary actions. 1.2.3 To provide constructive measures for employees to understand and learn from their mistakes. 1.2.4 To ensure the promotion of fairness and equality in the treatment of its employees.
1.3 Scope
This Guide to Corrective Behavior and Disciplinary Matters shall apply to all employees of
Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai and as the majority of us are sponsored as residents in this
country, the scope of policy addresses issues beyond the confines of the Hotel and in
accordance with local rules and regulations.
1.4 Policy
1.4.1 The responsibility for maintaining the discipline of employees shall be the
primary concern of the SMs/SSMs/SEs who shall have the authority to initiate
disciplinary action against his/her subordinates whenever a violation of the
rule is committed, in consultation with the Human Resources Department.
1.4.2 Disciplinary action, where possible, will be corrective rather than punitive.
The disposition of disciplinary action must be commensurate with the
infraction committed.
