abundantly furnished." T h e n the apostle goes on to mention a cluster of seven things that should bud out of the faith which first of all the be liever possesses through Christ. The salvation within ought to work itself out by a constant manifestation of the graces of the Spirit (cf. Phil. 2:12, 13). Golden Text Illustration 2 P eter 1:4 On every package sent out by a cer tain printer in a large city is an im pressive trade-mark. It is simply a circle within which is his name and the words, “I never disappoint.” Every promise the Lord Jesus Christ ever made to His people might truly have borne that legend.— 1001 Illustrations for Pulpit and Platform, by Webb. MEMORY VERSE: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believ- eth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). APPROACH: Do you remember some time when an older boy or girl took your part when you were being badly treated? How glad you were to have He can do this for us only if \fre have received Him as our Saviour. LESSON: Nothing is hidden f r o m the Lord J e s u s or from God the Father. Perhaps some day the heav enly Father, looking into the hearts of His children, may say something like this: “Arthur has sinned; he has told a lie.” Or, “Mary has sinned; she has cheated in school.” How the Lord Jesus would grieve to know that! But God’s Word teaches us that Jesus is our Advocate, if we have received Him as our Saviour, and so we can expect that He would reply in some way like this: “Yes, Father,” He would say sadly, “that is true. But Arthur and Mary have asked Me to be their Saviour. They want to do what is right. They are asking for forgive ness. Please forgive their* sins—be cause I died for them.” The heavenly Father loves His Son, the Lord Jesus, very dearly because He was willing to die for ys". He loves us, too. He forgives us, for Jesus’ sake. Have we thought about how much the Lord Jesus suffered in order to be come our Advocate? He wore a crown of sharp thorns and let people strike Him with their hands and spit on His When Jesus Died for Us 1 J ohn 2:1-6; J ohn 19 some one with you who was s t r o n g and loving and was yoiir friend!
