to give His life for lost and wandering men. The Bible is a chart to the other wise uncharted sea of life. To refuse to accept it as such is to choose a course abounding with hidden dan gers. II. THE HEADSHIP OF CHRIST OVER THE CHURCH (Col. 1:18; Eph. 4:12-15). Christ now governs, guides, and comforts the invisible church through the instrumentality of the Holy Spirit whom He sent (John 14:26; 16:13). He, the Spirit, is Christ’s vicar on the earth and not some man. h i . R egeneration by faith in JESUS CHRIST (Tit. 3:5). Because of man’s spiritually lost and fallen condition (Rom. 3:23), we stand for the fact that the soul needs to be regenerated by faith in Jesus Christ, and that this faith effects a “new” or “second” birth which is spiritual. This new birth, the begin ning of a new life, may be the expe rience' of any one who calls upon the name of the Lord (John 3:3; 2 Cor. 5:17; Rom. 10:13). IV. VICTORY AND PURITY OF LIFE (1 John 3:3; 1 Cor. 15:57h True Protestantism stands for purity and victory in thought and deed for every one who names the name of Christ. This makes abiding in Christ (John 15:4), and the confessing of all known sin (1 John 1:9) absolute nec essities. There can be no whitewash ing of sin; there must be a blood- washing. V. A W O R L D - WIDE MISSIONARY PROGRAM (1 Cor. 15:3; Ma t t . 28:18, 19). Christ commanded that His gospel be preached in every part of the earth, and it is His will that every man, beginning at Pentecost, should hear in his own tongue the wonderful works of God. “The old picture of Martin Luther, standing before the copy of the Scrip tures which was carefully chained to- a wall in the crypt, is suggestive. The Roman Church kept the Word of God fastened by chains. Wycliffe, Tyndale, Erasmus, Reuchlin, Luther, Melanc- thon, and the Westminster divines found the Book in the temple, rescued it from an enormous heap of tradi tions and decrees, and restored it to the world through the magnificent translations which they made.”— Five Thousand Best Modern Illustrations, by Hallock. Conclusion To the degree that we as individ uals and as a church affirm and be lieve these five statements, to that degree shall we conquer and be strong in the Lord. We must preach the Word.

However, “Protestant Christianity,” or better defined Evangelical Chris tianity, stands for. more than protests against, and negations of the teach ings and practices of the Roman Cath olic Church or any other false religion, even as the great Reformation move ment stood for more than just a num ber of protests against the Vatican government of that time. “Protestant Christianity” has a positive message for the world. The salvation, victory, and power for*' every lost and spir itually impoverished soul are to be found in the things that we affirm and confidently believe (cf. Tit. 3:1-8). Our commission is to proclaim the conquering truth of the gospel of Christ. Today we are told that the army that wins 'must “take the offensive,” for wars are hot won with only strong forts and defenses. This is true in the spiritual realm; having put on the whole armor of God to stand in defense a g a i n s t the wiles of the enemy, we must “take the offensive” by affirming and proclaiming the things for which we stand. For Those Who Have Topics I. THE SUPERNATURAL R E V E L A TION OF GOD (2 Tim. 3:15-17; 2 Pet. 1:19-21). Our Bible originated in the mind of God, and was revealed to us through holy men of God empowered by the Holy Spirit. Christianity is the only revealed religion; all others are the products of the art and. device of Satan working through men. The Bi ble is our only rule for faith and ac tion. It has the answers to all ques tions vital to our understanding ‘of life, death, and eternity; it tells us what to do about our past, present, and our future. .Its central figure is the Son of God from heaven who came into this world as the Lamb of God
