Strong Native Women – Strong Native Hearts: Our Health and What We Can Do to Improve Our Overall Quality of Life. Cholla The Strong Heart Study of Arizona, South Dakota and Oklahoma The Strong Heart Study is the first study to research heart disease in Native Americans and is the largest and longest-running epidemiological study of Native Americans ever done. Heart disease is amongst the leading causes of death for native women - too often, our symptoms are dismissed, diagnoses and treatments are delayed, access to care is limited, transportation, understanding medication, and caring for others as caretakers - leaves our health to go to the wayside. Join this informative, interactive, easy-to-understand women’s health workshop; designed with native women and families in mind. The Strong Heart Study will share key information and findings about our health over the last 35 years. This is your opportunity to learn more about our health, our resiliency, and what we can do to improve our overall quality of life and the lives of our native people.
