whimsical creations of the game’s design, like clockwork animals that roamed the streets. “Cogsworth is known for its Clocktower Race,” Pip explained, pointing towards a massive central tower that loomed over the city. “It’s a race through the city, around the clocktower, ending right back here at the starting line. The winner gets a rare gear, said to be a key component for a mysterious device.” Intrigued and eager to participate, Vanda signed up for the race. The starting line was abuzz with competitors, their vehicles ranging from high-speed monocycles to steam-powered runners. Vanda was provided with a standard racer, a compact vehicle with a steam engine and pedal-assist. “Racers, at the ready!” shouted the grand marshal, a robust figure with a top hat adorned with various ticking timepieces. “On my mark!” The signal was given, and the crowd roared as steam hissed and gears whirred. Vanda pushed down on the pedals, feeling the racer lurch forward. The city was a labyrinth of narrow alleys and broad avenues lined with spectators cheering and waving mechanical flags. Navigating Cogsworth’s streets was a challenge. Vanda had to dodge steam vents that burst open without warning and navigate sharp turns that tested his reflexes. Other racers jostled for position, their competitive edges as sharp as the turns. Midway through the race, Vanda found himself in the middle of the pack. He focused on the clocktower ahead, its large face looming closer with each second. As he rounded a corner, he spotted a shortcut—an alley barely wide enough for his racer but a straight shot towards the next checkpoint.
