Bob is shown assembling his first reproduction chrome item, the 48-18416 locking gas cap as featured within an article in Ford Life Magazine’s May- June issue of 1973. Bob was new to the world of manufacturing and quickly learned the principals of die-casting, chrome plating, component sourcing and marketing. He first offered these at $19.95 and sold hundreds. After suddenly realizing the huge demand, Bob increased his component orders which lowered his cost considerably. He decided to lower his price to $14.95 and refunded the difference to all his previous locking gas cap customers. Today this cap is still among his best selling items.
