BRAVES TROPHY TO BE IN ALBERTVILLE The Atlanta Braves has announced stops for the World Champions Trophy Tour during the upcoming months. The tour will travel throughout Braves Country through summer 2022 with a total of 151 stops, commemorating 151 years of Braves baseball. One of these stops will be at the Sand Mountain Park and Amphitheater in Albertville on June 25 at noon. Earlier in June, the trophy will make a stop at Chattanooga’s Riverbend Music Festival, which is set for June 4. The trophy will be on display at 2 p.m. CRIMSON TIDE A-DAY SET FOR APRIL 16 Alabama's 2022 Golden Flake A-Day Game will be held on Saturday, April 16, at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. 2022 AHSAA BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP Jacksonville State University and the City of Oxford will host the 2022 Alabama High School Athletic Association's State Baseball Championships from May 16-21 at Jim Case Stadium and Choccolocco Park. BOAZ CHAMBER GOLF TOURNAMENT The second annual Boaz Chamber Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at the Clear Creek Golf Club. In the event of Rain, the event will be on June 10. Lunch will be served at 10 a.m. and Tee Time is at 11 a.m. A 4-man team is $200 and a Hole Sponsor is $150. For more info contact the Boaz Chamber at 256-593-8154. NASCAR RETURNS TO TALLADEGA The Geico 500 NASCAR Race will be held at the Talladega Superspeedway on April 24, 2022. The race is set to begin at 2 p.m. CT. Travel packages and tickets are available at www.talladegasuperspeedway.com. 2022 SEC MEDIA DAYS The 2022 SEC Football Media Day schedule has been set. The event will be held on July 18-21 at the College Football Hall of Fame and the Omni Hotel in Atlanta, GA. Alabama and Auburn will both be participating. The Crimson Tide will be up first on Tuesday, July 19 as Nick Saban will discuss the upcoming season. Auburn coach Brian Harsin will discuss the Tigers season on Thursday, July 21. Tennessee Coach Josh Heupel will also be in Atlanta on July 21 to talk about the Volunteers. JSU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CAMP The Jacksonville State women's basketball program will host a team and individual camp this summer. The Gamecocks staff will begin with a team camp June 20-23, that is open to all varsity, junior varsity or travel teams. Different camp packages range from playing three games all the way up to six games. The cost for three games is $325, four games is $375, and six games is $425. There will also be an Elite Camp for individual campers on June 24-25. Campers can choose from four different options that include overnight stay or commuting for a two-day or single-day camp option. The cost for two days overnight is $165 and a commuter two day cost is $110. The cost for Friday, June 24 is $50. The cost for Saturday, June 25 is $80. At Jacksonville State University, sports camps are open to any and all applicants and are limited only by the number of slots available per camp and the age, grade level, and/or gender of the participant. TENNIS SCHOLARSHIP Albertville's Drew Shankles recently signed a letter of intent to continue his education and tennis career at Gadsden State. TRACK & FIELD CAMP There will be a Track & Field Camp for ages 6-14 held in Fort Payne on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m. fromApril 18-May 27. The cost is $50 per child. Registration is available at the Wills Valley Rec Center by April 18. The camp will feature 12 training sessions designed to introduce track, proper exercise techniques and more. For more information call Delvin at 256.844.6571. 3-ON-3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT There will be a 3-on-3 double elimination basketball tournament at Sylvania High School on June 4, 2022. The cost to enter is $80 per team. Must be 19 years or older and must signup and pay by May 28. Concessions will be available and prizes will be awarded to the champs. Katie Grace Segars will be cheering at Snead State Community College. Classmate Triaten Palacios has committed to play soccer at Spring Hill College. GOLF TOURNAMENT The 20th annual Martha Willis Mission Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held at Willowbrook Golf Course in Albertville on April 30, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. until noon. The tournament is sponsored by the DeKalb Baptist Association of Southern Baptist Churches. FLORIDAMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH Todd Golden has been hired as head men's basketball coach at the University of Florida. Golden, 36, becomes the 20th head coach of the Gators. Sports Sideline

The Collinsville Panthers defeated Plainview 9-1 to win the 2022 DeKalb County Invitational Junior High Championship on Saturday, April 9. The Panthers outscored Crossville, Fyffe and Plainview 35-1 in the tournament. Mason McAteer got the win against Fyffe and Gavin Lang earned the win against Plainview. Overall, Collinsville played solid defense with CF Kyler Beene making some fine plays. The team members include: Front row, Brennan Totherow, Chase Godshall, Tony Henderson, Sylas Adams, John Fountain, Coach Teddy Helms.
