ings. At these gatherings the members of the different classes have opportunity to touch each other and break bread together, at twilight, about our round table. Thus God is using “a room.” It was the link

needed to join interest and effort in these ten classes scattered over a. radius of thirty miles and we want to pass on to high school girls world-wide its message,—“B e fra grant for C hrist .”

0 TOCKTON and San Francisco have classes each week. Stockton has an average of twenty-five and San Francisco about twenty each week. In these classes 1 am using the lesson leaflets on the Funda mentals of the Bible that I had at Sacra mento and the Prison last year. T he Sacramento class started the first Monday in October with an attendance of fifty-five and the past six weeks the average has been sixty each week. The study of the book of Hebrews with chapter outlines is taken up with enthusiasm and.the interest is increasing. Several of the young people who made partial arrangements to go to the Institute this Fall, but who failed to connect, are thinking of making a move soon and some of them at least will prob ably start the first of the‘.year. M any of the new comers at San Quentin Prison are joining my Bible study class and I am enjoying the blessed privilege of leading some of them to Jesus and of build ing up some in the knowledge of Him whom we serve. I cohsider it a privilege to co-operate with Chaplain Shepherd in this grand work. He is a man of God in deed and I am extremely grateful to our Father for selecting such a man and for putting it into the; hearts of the officials to appoint him to the position. I have re ceived several generous donations of books, magazines and weekly periodicals for the

prison library and I have also carried in several bundles myself which are appreciat ed very much by the officials and men. Any good books or papers are welcomed by the men at San Quentin and the expense of transportation is borne by the State, so that all one has to do is to box them up and ship care of the Chaplain. T he help I am enabled to give to individ uals in the course of my work from place to place is gratifying indeed. One individual said, “I was on the verge of joining one of the ‘cults’ that you so earnestly warned against and the warning with the instruc tion you have given me, has turned me to the Lord Jesus Christ and I am now anx ious to learn His will for me.” Another said, “I am a. graduate o f ----- — University. I was taught there the scientific theory of life Nothing was ever said about the Bible, but the instruction given so emphasized the evolutionary theory that I thought a person very ignorant indeed and circumscribed in their thought who believed the Bible. I was not satisfied with life as taught in the University, but I could not find -anyone who knew how to instruct me from the Bible and I shall never be able to thank God enough for sending you at the critical mo ment to lead me to Him who is able to instruct the weakest and even a University graduate the way of life.” Testimony of this sort is at once a gratification to the heart and a justification of the work.
