April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, or SAAM. During SAAM, the Sexual Assault Support Service (SASS) reaches out to an increasingly broad range of industries and communities to raise awareness and educate people about putting an end to sexual violence. We all have a part to play in preventing sexual harassment, assault and abuse. We can all help stamp out sexual assault. How can my business get involved in SAAM? • Join a workshop or book a training session for your staff, e.g. Sexual Trauma First Aid. • Register your business forWear Teal Tuesday on 26 April: put on a teal ribbon, sell teal coloured beers or cocktails, collect gold coin donations, display posters and flyers and start a conversation about consent. • Buy a ticket in the SAAM raffle, available online until the end of the month – and reach out now if you’d like to donate a prize for next year. • Make sure your workplace policies relating to sexual assault and harassment protect your staff, your customers and your business. Our services include: • Crisis support, with a 24 hour, 7 day a week response line – 1800 697 877. • Counselling and support for survivors of sexual harm, and anyone affected by sexual harm. • Primary prevention training for workplaces, sporting organisations, and schools. • Social policy and advocacy. • National Redress Scheme Support Service.
