Kelsea House started her hospitality career over 10 years ago in front-of-house roles, then moved into the kitchen and completed a Certificate II in Kitchen Operations. Kelsea relocated to Hobart as a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery apprentice employed by Wrest Point Casino. “I stayed at Wrest Point for six years because I really enjoyed cooking and I had great mentors,” she said. Although she loved cooking, Kelsea also had a passion for mentoring and wanted to support other young apprentices and trainees as they learned their craft. Kelsea was eager to continue her development so started a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment at Wrest Point, as well as entering cooking competitions and completing a customer experience program.
Theworkplace-basedtuitionofferedtobusinesses by Work & Training meant Kelsea could pursue her career into training and mentoring, while continuing to earn a living in commercial kitchens.
